About the role

The Program Adviser - Health provides support within the Australian Red Cross International Programs Department on the delivery of high quality and inclusive health assistance to people affected by disasters and crises. 

Working under the guidance of the Senior Specialist for International Health and Senior Manager - Technical Leads, the Program Adviser is responsible for technical support internally and to partner with Red Cross National Societies facilitating quality program implementation and application of workplans, budgets, reports, trainings, and resource materials. The Program Adviser will contribute to mainstreaming of gender equity, disability and social inclusion; climate responsiveness; evidence-based programming; data for decision making; and monitoring, evaluation and reporting.

 

What you will bring 

  • Demonstrated sound technical knowledge and expertise of international health in epidemic preparedness / response / recovery programming with Red Cross Red Crescent, NGOs or other similar organisations
  • Professional knowledge of communicable diseases 
  • Sound analytical skills and demonstrated ability to assess, evaluate and solve problems and exercise initiative and judgement where practices and procedures are not clearly defined
  • Understanding of community health programming, or community volunteer / community health worker programs is highly desirable
  • Excellent relationship-building and interpersonal skills in cross-cultural settings
  • Demonstrated capacity with workplans and budgets, competent with excel
  • Demonstrated capacity to write high quality program reports
  • Work with respect and consideration of the needs and capacity of counterparts, able to adjust and adapt to changes as they arise

Further information  

This role is covered by the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Award - Level 5. Competitive salary + superannuation + access to salary packaging.
