About the role

The Senior Manager – International Response is accountable for leading a small team that coordinates Australian Red Cross’ support to the Red Cross Red Crescent Movement during times of disaster and crisis. The role is responsible for coordinating Australian Red Cross’ financial resources, human resources and humanitarian relief supplies to our Partners.
Additionally, this role will identify opportunities and design programmatic interventions that enhance locally-led disaster management capacities.


Inherent requirements of this role include international and domestic travel as well as after-hours, on-call and remote work duties. A condition of employment with Australian Red Cross is that all employees abide by security and health protocols, procedures and policies.


What you will bring

  • High level of technical and operational skills and demonstrated experience in disaster/emergency management
  • Excellent analytical capacity including interpersonal, negotiation, influencing and cross-cultural skills
  • Demonstrated experience in intervention design, monitoring, reporting, evaluation and learning; and the mobilisation of resources
  • Experience in strategic relationship development with internal and external partners and stakeholders in the pursuit of broad and specific program goals
  • High level of communication, networking and interpersonal skills
  • Experience of successfully and collaboratively managing and /or influencing stakeholders, including remotely
  • Ability to operate under limited direction from senior employees, work creatively, resourcefully and effectively as part of a team
  • A belief in locally-led practices and a commitment to being partner-led
  • An influenza vaccination is a mandatory requirement of this role
