The program 

 

As a member of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, Australian Red Cross has an obligation to disseminate information about international humanitarian law, also known as the laws of war. It has a crucial role to play in promoting and monitoring correct use of the red cross, red crescent and red crystal emblems. The IHL Program is responsible within Red Cross for monitoring use of the emblems within Australia and follows up cases where the emblem is misused, usually inadvertently, by members of the Australian public.

 

The opportunity 

 

The Emblem Protection Volunteer will assist the IHL Program to ensure misuses of the emblem referred to the IHL Program are properly dealt with and proactive steps are taken to promote the correct use of the emblem. This will include responding to email enquiries, drafting correspondence, follow-up telephone calls, maintaining a database and researching particular areas of interest.

 

The impact 

 

Emblem Protection Volunteers support Australian Red Cross in a core aspect of its mandate to protect the distinctive red cross, red crescent and red crystal emblems.

 

Application requirements

  • For this role you will be required to undertake a National Police Check, which will be organised through Red Cross. 
  • You will need to provide a recent copy of your CV.
