Youth Settlement Caseworker

About the Role
The Settlement Case worker will be responsible for providing settlement support to newly arrived people, especially Humanitarian Entrants and Refugees, who have arrived in Australia within the last five years (or more depending on circumstances) and ensure contractual obligations under the relevant funding programs are met. The Settlement Case worker will also conduct in-depth intake assessments, facilitate engagement, referrals and successful settlement outcomes to increase the independence and self-reliance of newly arrived refugee and migrant individuals and families.
The role will hold a caseload of either low to medium-intensity clients, providing information, advice and referrals as needed.

Essential Criteria
- Tertiary qualifications in Community and Human Services, Social Work or relevant Discipline
- Experience in the delivering culturally responsive case work services
- An understanding of skills and techniques to build clients capacity to become independent in Australia
- Strong knowledge and understanding of the multicultural sector including relevant government policies and programs
- Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to deal constructively with complex and sometimes conflicting situations
- Highly developed written and computer skills across a range of applications including client records management systems.
Desirable Experience
- Minimum 3 years equivalent experience and/or Tertiary qualification in Social Work/ Human Services or relevant discipline
- Lived experience of forceful displacement and migration
