The Role

We have an exciting part-time opportunity (3 to 3.5 days per week) for a qualified and experienced Regulatory Scientist to join our Corporate Regulatory team.

  • Providing food regulatory advice to Sanitarium and related business entities.
  • Ensuring compliance to relevant legislation by assessing product portrayal, advertising, artwork and allergen status of products and raw materials.
  • Interpreting legislative frameworks to understand potential claims, risks and barriers.
  • Risk assessment of existing, new or changed raw materials and production cross-contact.
  • Assisting in developing supplier specifications and sales/export documentation.
  • Continuously improving our food safety, legality/regulatory and quality systems and processes to support agreed manufacturing targets.
  • Negotiating and actioning any technical policy and procedural improvements.
  • Monitoring and assessing relevant trends and issues in relation to strategic scientific and regulatory issues.

Skills & Experience

  • Tertiary qualification in Food Technology, Dietetics/Nutrition or related science discipline is essential.
  • 3+ years’ experience in a food related area.
  • Previous experience in a similar role would be highly regarded.
  • Experience of Australian and New Zealand food legislative requirements.
  • Understanding of food regulations, legislation, consumer law and food safety.
  • The successful applicant will enjoy a collaborative approach to their work, have a positive, can-do mentality, be details oriented, and able to work well as part of a team.
