About the Role

This is a permanent full -time opportunity working 5 days / week (35 hours) and can be based at any of the eight Uniting Counselling and Mediation sites

 

We’re seeking a passionate and experienced child, youth and family practitioner to join our team in a permanent full-time capacity as a Child Inclusive Practice Specialist. This role can be based at any of Uniting’s eight Counselling and Mediation sites: Newcastle, Gosford, Sydney CBD, Parramatta CBD, Penrith, Fairfield, Campbelltown, Wollongong, or Nowra. Regular travel across all sites will be required.


This is a leadership position that provides day-to-day operational support and clinical oversight of Child Inclusive Practice (CIP) and children and youth counselling across Uniting’s Counselling and Mediation programs. Working closely with Operations Managers, Practice Leads and local Managers, you will ensure the effective delivery, integration, and continual development of CIP services.

 

About you in the role

 

  • Providing clinical supervision and training to practitioners delivering the child, youth and families work.
  • Attending team, leadership, and project meetings.
  • Coordinating and co-facilitating group work alongside therapists.
  • Supporting the rollout of specialist trauma interventions (modality-specific projects), including extended therapy sessions of up to 22 sessions for  children.
  • Embedding and promoting CIP frameworks across programs.
  • Supporting capacity building internally and externally, ensuring practice aligns with the principles of a Child Safe Organisation.

 

About You

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Psychology, Social Work or Counselling.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in the field of counselling and therapy with children and families.
  • Strong experience managing high-conflict families with complex needs.
  • Demonstrated clinical expertise in post-separation and family violence contexts, including knowledge of the Family Law Act.
  • High-level skills in providing individual and group clinical supervision.
  • Experience in delivering training, coaching, and professional development.
  • A commitment to trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and child-safe practice.
  • A current driver’s licence and willingness to travel across sites.

  1. Describe your experience in facilitating CIP supervision, training new child consultants/therapists in the CIP Model, including developing feedback to parents and therapy with children. Can you give an example of how you balanced clinical supervision with broader goals of Family Law and child safety and wellbeing?
  2. Describe your experience in coaching and mentoring the supervision of Child and Adolescent therapy and Family Therapy.
  3. How would you incorporate the Child Safe Organisation Principles when supporting the growth of CIP internally and externally?
