headspace Penrith is part of Australia’s National Youth Mental Health Foundation, providing early intervention services to young people aged 12–25. Our multidisciplinary team delivers support across mental health, physical health (including sexual health), alcohol and other drugs, and work and study.

About the Role

We are seeking a Youth Access Team Clinician to join our welcoming and passionate team at headspace Penrith.

As a first point of contact for many young people and their families, you will play a pivotal role in building rapport, conducting intake and assessments, and coordinating care to support each young person's recovery journey.

You will:

  • Conduct intake and psychosocial assessments, including complex risk evaluations
  • Develop collaborative care plans aligned with a young person’s identified goals
  • Provide brief interventions and link clients to appropriate services
  • Work in close partnership with GPs, allied health clinicians, and support workers
  • Foster collaborative relationships with external community and youth service providers

 

About You

You are passionate about youth mental health and eager to make a real impact. You thrive in a multidisciplinary team and value evidence-based, recovery-focused care.

Essential Criteria:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, or Mental Health Nursing
  • Registration with AHPRA or eligibility for AASW membership
  • Clinical experience in a mental health setting (including placements or volunteer work such as Lifeline)
  • Strong assessment and triage skills, with a focus on mental health presentations
  • Experience delivering evidence-based interventions
  • Ability to develop person-centred care plans with a biopsychosocial focus
