About the job: 

 

We’re looking for an experienced Senior Water/Wastewater Technician to join our team in Auckland. The role involves operating and maintaining small water and wastewater treatment plants and maintaining reticulation networks on a reactive or scheduled basis, as required to contract specifications.  

 

This may include repairing or installing treatment plant equipment, watermain pipes, service pipes, meter connections, and irrigation systems, and maintain or repair wastewater disposal systems. You will handle and calibrate handheld and treatment plant analysers and flushing and resolving water quality issues within the reticulation networks. You will also be expected to be on call on a rostered basis. 

 

 

What you’ll need:  

 

  • You will need to have previous experience in working in the water or wastewater industry or similar industry. 
  • Ideally have experience with operating and maintaining water or wastewater treatment plants. 
  • Be prepared to gain a National Certificate in Water Reticulation, Level 3 or 4 (Water strand) and certification in drinking water and wastewater treatment. 
  • We need someone who is able and willing to participate in the on-call and standby roster. 
  • You will need to be physically fit, health and safety focused and work well in a team as well as independently. 
  • A full class 1 licence is essential, class 2 desirable 
  • Comprehensive First Aid Advantageous 

 

All preferred candidates will be required to complete pre-employment checks to the employer’s satisfaction. These checks include but are not limited to, ministry of Justice criminal conviction report, medical assessment, and drug and alcohol testing.
