Are you a visionary leader with a passion for strategy, policy, and community outcomes? We are seeking a dynamic individual to join our Organisational Performance and Innovation group at the Rotorua Lakes Council. In this role, you will drive integrated strategic planning and ensure alignment with Council’s Vision.
About the Role
As the Corporate Strategy & Compliance Lead, you will:
- Lead and facilitate the performance and delivery of Council’s Vision
- Oversee the development, review, and management of strategies, policies, and bylaws, ensuring they are current, fit-for-purpose, and compliant with legislation.
- Develop and monitor a legislative compliance framework tailored to organisational needs and prevailing laws.
- Ensure the Community Performance Framework is robust, with effective monitoring and reporting on delivery.
- Guide and mentor a team including Strategic Advisors and Officers, fostering a high-performing, collaborative environment.
- Work cross-functionally with internal teams such as Elected Members, Te Tatau o Te Arawa, and CE’s Group, as well as external stakeholders like local iwi, technical professionals, consultants, auditors, and community groups.
What We’re Looking For
- A relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience in a public sector environment, policy development, or business management.
- Demonstrated experience working with legislation and proven senior leadership in Local Government.
- Strong track record in strategic thought leadership, especially in partnership with iwi and key stakeholders.
- Exceptional communication, relationship management, and influencing skills.
- Inspirational leadership abilities, with a history of developing and guiding high-performing teams.
- Project management experience is desirable.
