Join the growing team at TFE Hotels as our Assistant Financial Controller New Zealand

With an increased footprint in New Zealand, we are looking for an experienced financially savvy and qualified Assistant Financial Controller based in Auckland.

 

Reporting to the Director of Finance - New Zealand, this role is responsible for assisting in the oversight and management of financial operations in New Zealand

Key responsibilities:

  • Assist in managing financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and analysis.
  • Prepare financial statements and reports in compliance with accounting standards and internal policies.
  • Oversee financial transactions, accounts payable/receivable, payroll processing, and bank reconciliations.
  • Support department heads in monitoring financial performance and implementing cost management strategies.
  • Assist in financial planning, variance analysis, and cost-saving initiatives.
  • Work with the transactional finance team to resolve outstanding issues, whilst being the primary finance contact for stakeholders within your hotel and region.
  • Oversee all month-end close processes and activities, and review and reconcile complex accounts where there are inconsistencies.

 

About you:

  • 2+ years’ experience in hotels or retail with substantial work experience relevant to the role
  • Experience in hotel accounting/finance (desirable)
  • Tertiary accounting qualifications and post graduate professional accounting qualifications (CA/CPA)
  • Strong working knowledge and practical skills in accounting and finance
  • Experience in month-end close processes and activities, with the ability to review and reconcile complex accounts where there are inconsistencies. 
  • You are a systems whiz with Microsoft Office and Accounting Software.
  • An eye for detail when it comes to numbers and ensuring everything checks out and balances
  • Effective communication (written and verbal)
  • Demonstrated drive to succeed and accomplish results.
  • Full time permanent working rights for New Zealand (essential)
